The Syracuse Storm faced a tough opponent in Mancelona pitcher Liangde Chien, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Torch Field by a final score of 9-2. Chien went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Syracuse reliever Pancho Chacón picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Geoffroy Cadaloba shouldered the loss. Syracuse now owns a record of 44-38.

Phil Beck's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Geoffroy Cadaloba for a run-scoring single. It put Syracuse in front, 3-2.

"We took it on the chin today," said losing manager Pablo Santos.
