The Syracuse Storm got a superb performance from pitcher Peter Ventola, but the Myrtle Beach Seahawks still won the game, 2-0. Ventola was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to Juan Espinosa in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Eddie Hancock took the loss. The Seahawks improved to 30-37.
Faradur Umrani hit a 2-run home run off Eddie Hancock in the bottom of the 12th, which put the Seahawks ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Umrani had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Myrtle Beach skipper Chris Brown.
