Victory Pushes Rainbow Mermaids Record to 70-38
|
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids starter Eric Matson turned in a top-notch performance against the Toledo Stingers at Pacesetter Park. The result was a win for the Rainbow Mermaids, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Matson surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Mark Valle got the save, his 19th in 23 chances.
Ty Tomblin, who leads the PL in doubles with 28, helped out the Northern Virginia cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Matson told the Northern Virginia Times.
The Rainbow Mermaids have an impressive 70-38 record.
