Barksdale Hits 2 home runs in Dodgers Win
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers topped the Boston Patriots by the score of 3-2, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Avon Barksdale. Barksdale belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Dodgers. John Bailey picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-3. Eugene Clarkston was tagged with the loss. At 40-67, Brooklyn is in last place in the Premier League.
Barksdale had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 fastball from Eugene Clarkston, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. It was the 27th home run of the year for Barksdale.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Barksdale told reporters after the game.
