Rainbow Mermaids Win at Toledo, 9-6
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids bested the Toledo Stingers, 9-6, at Pacesetter Park. Count Dante was named player of the game. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Mimosa Joseph was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Northern Virginia, at 68-38, occupies second place in the Premier League.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from catcher Galtero Suárez. For the game, Suárez was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 77th hit of the season gave Northern Virginia a 5-4 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Dante told the Northern Virginia Times.
