Torch Win at Louisiana, 5-3
|
The Mancelona Torch bested the Louisiana Dragoons by a score of 5-3, with designated hitter Marcus Shill getting the main credit. On the day, Shill was 2 for 4 with a home run for the Torch. Tim Sharp picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Benjamin Weightman was tagged with the loss. Geoffroy Cadaloba closed the door for Mancelona, picking up his 6th save of the year.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born José Reyes came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st and the Torch trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Mancelona on top.
"I really like what we did out there today," Shill said after the game.
Mancelona has now won 3 straight, while the Dragoons have lost 3 in a row.
