Torch Inch Closer to .500 With 5-3 Win
|
Mancelona second baseman Vilhelm Loyen was instrumental in his team's 5-3 win over the Syracuse Storm. Loyen, who is tied for 7th in the 3A in triples with 2, went 4-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Torch. Mancelona reliever Liangde Chien was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Carlos Simon took the loss for Syracuse. The Torch now have a mark of 16-17.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Geoffroy Cadaloba didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Syracuse trailing 5-3, Cadaloba retired José García to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Cadaloba, with a wink.
