Walk-Off Victory for Bulls Takes Record to 8-5
|
The Mt. Vernon Bulls picked up a win at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon, knocking off the Belleville Bulls, 4-3. On the mound for Mt. Vernon was left-hander Steve Costlow, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win was credited to Shadi Zafar in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Martín García took the loss. The loss lowers the Belleville record to 4-9.
Toby Sutton, who is tied for 9th in the 3A in home runs with 2, chipped in for Mt. Vernon with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 14th. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Belleville manager P.J. Price said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
