The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Northville Eclipse, 9-4, at Old-Timers Park today. Leading the charge for Mercer Island was first baseman Alfredo García. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was José Sauls's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Jesús Fernández took the loss for Northville. The Screaming Eagles have an impressive 61-37 record.

Tied up with the Eclipse in the top of the fifth inning, the Screaming Eagles got a boost from left fielder Juan Reyes. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Reyes saw a 0-2 splitter from Jesús Fernández and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put Mercer Island on top, 7-4.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager David Lundy said.
