Rails Prevail, 5-3, Over Chesapeake
|
Chesapeake got a terrific performance from pitcher Raúl Romero, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richland Rails. Richland won the Chesapeake Grounds contest, 5-3. Romero was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Richland reliever Sandro Pérez picked up the win, upping his record to 11-3. Jack Salt was saddled with the loss. Richland is now 37-57.
The Rails got a big at-bat from third baseman Fytor Ceia. For the game, Ceia was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Richland a 5-3 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Ceia, "and today was a good one for us."
