Shooters Win in Extras
|
The Springfield Shooters got a strong performance from pitcher Gabriel Valenzuela, who stymied the Mercer Island offense en route to a 5-2 win at Mercer Island Grounds. Dermot Eridge earned the save for Springfield, his 6th of the year. Springfield now sits at 41-50, while Mercer Island falls to 56-35.
Late-game drama came in the top of the tenth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Tony Martínez, hit a double. It helped Springfield seize the win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Martínez told the Springfield Daily.
