Miners Slip Past Asheville, 4-3
|
The Marquette Miners did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Asheville Highlanders at Asheville Park. Nobody did more than pitcher James Bennett, who captured player of the game honors. Chiel Abspoel was credited with the save for Marquette, his 2nd of the season. Marquette now sits at 44-46, while Asheville falls to 50-40.
Brock Dean took Juan Ramírez deep in the top of the 11th. His solo home run put the Miners on top, 4-3. In all, Dean had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
"We played hard and won," said Bennett. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
