Minnesota played host to Asheville at the friendly confines of Loony Bin.

A 3-RBI performance from designated hitter Júlio Vargas, who is tied for 7th in the PAA with a .472 slugging percentage, led the Minnesota Loons to a 6-4 win over the Asheville Highlanders. The winner was Steve Monroe, who threw 100 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. Víctor Torres notched his 3rd save in 4 chances.

The Loons got a big at-bat from catcher Gilberto Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 1 for 5, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 17th hit of the season gave Minnesota a 4-2 lead.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Vargas.
