Loons Come Back Late, Nip Youth
|
In a tight contest at Grenadiers Ballpark, the Minnesota Loons edged the Phoenix Hotspur Youth by the score of 4-3. Minnesota catcher Gilberto Rodríguez, who blasted 2 home runs, was named the player of the game. Minnesota reliever Aubrey McCrimmon was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Wei-qian Chieu. Víctor Torres was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Rodríguez had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch cutter from Wei-qian Chieu, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Loons a 4-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Rodríguez.
"I really like what we did out there today," Rodríguez said after the game.
Phoenix Hotspur, at 25-58, has lost 4 straight.
