The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 4-3. Starting pitcher Benjamin Busto, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winner was Marquette reliever Enrique Castillo, now 3-4. The loser was Leo Ingelbrigtsen. With the win, Marquette has a record of 40-41. Mercer Island falls to 50-31.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 12th inning. With two out, Andrew Cantrell hit a 1-2 fastball from Pu-feng Zhou for a run-scoring single. It put Marquette in front, 4-3.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Mercer Island manager David Lundy.
