Miners Fall Short at Phoenix Hotspur
|
Grenadiers Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Marquette Miners and Phoenix Hotspur Youth.
The Phoenix Hotspur Youth went home winners at Grenadiers Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter José Santiago. Santiago silenced the Marquette Miners, enabling Phoenix Hotspur to grab the 2-1 win. After today's action, Phoenix Hotspur sits at 24-51, while Marquette falls to 38-37.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Phoenix Hotspur first baseman Braylen Sampson, facing Félix Santiago, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Youth the 2-1 win.
"I was a little disappointed," said Marquette manager Juan Sánchez. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
