Rails Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Continentals
|
The Richland Rails faced a tough opponent in Chesapeake pitcher Jack Salt, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Rails Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Salt went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Jeffery Page picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-5. Raúl Romero was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to José Castro, his 5th.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when center fielder Yoichibei Chikafuji, who is rated as the 77th best prospect by BNN, hit a single. The Rails went on to win.
"I really like what we did out there today," Chikafuji said after the game.
Richland occupies 9th place in the Premier AA at 31-44.
