The Asheville Highlanders dealt the Springfield Shooters a 8-5 loss at Springfield Stadium. Tony Walsh was the star on offense. He went 2-3 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Asheville reliever Awad Mahmudnizhad, now 2-0. The loser was Cristián Moreno. Bob Grzelak picked up the save, his 11th.

Arturo Scantlebury had a nice at-bat for the Highlanders with one out in the top of the ninth. With a runner on 3rd, the first baseman drew a walk, which would prove important in the Asheville win.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Walsh said after the game.

The Highlanders saw their record improve to 35-34.
