Shooters Lose to Continentals in Walk Off
|
In a high-scoring game between Chesapeake and Springfield, second baseman Manuel Ángel was a difference-maker. The 22-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 9-8 Chesapeake win. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Chesapeake is now 32-33, Springfield 29-36.
Obi Jones was the walk-off hero for Chesapeake. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Continentals catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ángel. "And not try to do too much."
