Miners Dump Loons, 6-4
|
The Minnesota Loons got a superb performance from right fielder Germán Espantoso, but the Marquette Miners still won the game, 6-4. Espantoso was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Félix Santiago sewed up the save, his 14th. Marquette is now 31-32, Minnesota 37-26.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Miners were trailing 3-2. Mark Keys delivered a two-out bases-clearing double for Marquette, catapulting his team into the lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Keys told the Marquette Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."
