Continentals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Highlanders
|
The Chesapeake Continentals trumped the Asheville Highlanders, 10-7, at Chesapeake Grounds. Chesapeake catcher Alfonso Morín was named player of the game for his performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Chesapeake is now 29-32, while Asheville is 31-30.
Morín contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chesapeake in the bottom of the 12th. With his team trailing 7-6, Morín took a fastball from Dave Haynes and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Continentals to leap in front, 10-7.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Morín.
