Highlanders Fall Short, 3-2, at Richland
|
The Richland Rails did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Asheville Highlanders at Rails Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Armando Ríos, who captured player of the game honors. Richland reliever Armando Ríos was credited with the win, to go to 2-2. Derek Patton took the loss for Asheville. The Rails improved to 23-28.
Tied up with the Highlanders in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Rails got a boost from right fielder Wulf Paauwe. With the bases empty, Paauwe saw a 1-1 fastball from Derek Patton and hit a solo home run to break the stalemate and put Richland on top, 3-2.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Ríos.
