Highlanders Edge Past Rails, 5-4
|
Fans who gathered at Rails Ballpark saw a good contest between the Asheville Highlanders and Richland Rails.
Richland left fielder León Preciado had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Asheville at Rails Ballpark. Preciado went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Asheville reliever Marvin Wasmund picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Ed Shreves was collared with the loss.
Asheville used the bat of Edward Woodstock to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Asheville manager Barry Embling.
The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the Highlanders.
