Screaming Eagles Fall to Rails, 7-5
|
Alfredo García had a good game, but he could not keep the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles from falling, 7-5, to the Richland Rails at Mercer Island Grounds. The Mercer Island first baseman was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs in the loss. Richland reliever Sandro Pérez was the winner. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Esteban Miroz. Stephen Knight closed it out for his 7th save.
One of the key players for the Rails was catcher Jorge Colón, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, Colón went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Colón, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Rails improved to 17-23.
