Miners Reel Off Another Win
|
With center fielder Steven Rohrs leading the charge, the Marquette Miners defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 6-3, at Grenadiers Ballpark. Rohrs, who is tied for 2nd in the PAA in stolen bases with 15, went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Melvin Tiburcio earned the win to go to 6-2. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Félix Santiago earned his 7th save in 7 tries.
Roy Bowman chipped in for Marquette with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Bowman.
Phoenix Hotspur has now lost 7 consecutive games.
