Continentals Win at Richland, 5-0
|
Spirited fans at Rails Ballpark greeted the Richland Rails for their clash with the Chesapeake Continentals.
Chesapeake beat Richland on the strength of starter Andrew Prieto's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-0 win. The winning pitcher was Prieto, now 2-4. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9.
Chesapeake left fielder Peer van Lochem delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 3 runs and batted in 2.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," van Lochem told the Chesapeake Daily News.
The last-place Rails have lost 4 straight games.
