Stingers Take Nail-Biter Over Patriots
|
In a high-scoring game between Toledo and Boston, third baseman Héctor Rivera was a difference-maker. The 27-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 10-8 Toledo win. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The winner was Toledo reliever An Jang-Yop, now 2-0. The loser was Carlos Ramos. Toledo is now 49-45, while Boston is 46-48.
Rivera had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 11th. On a first pitch fastball from Carlos Ramos, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Stingers a 10-8 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Rivera.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Rivera told the Toledo Herald.
