Mercer Island Hot Streak Continues with 8-6 Win
The inspired effort of Marquette second baseman Theron Montecalvo was not enough to prevent a 8-6 loss to the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Montecalvo was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Harrison Tuff, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. The win was the 15th in 19 games this season for the Screaming Eagles, who appear to be on course for a return trip to the playoffs.

Alfredo García went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Mercer Island. The 26-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off James Bennett. It was his 8th RBI of the season.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," García told the Mercer Island Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
