Victory Pushes Shooters Record to 10-8
|
Fans who came to Springfield Stadium watched the Springfield Shooters and the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats fight to the finish.
Springfield right fielder Stephen Chávez made his presence felt in the 4-3 Shooters triumph over the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats. Chávez was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs. Springfield reliever Vicente Escamilla picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dylan Telford was saddled with the loss.
Chávez had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 3-1 fastball from Dylan Telford, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Shooters a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Chávez.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Chávez told the Springfield Daily.
Losses have been rare for the Love Boats, who are now 13-5.
