Loons Can't Finish, Lose 4-3
|
The Youth faced a stiff challenge from Minnesota pitcher Melchor Morse, but persevered to claim a win at Grenadiers Ballpark. The final score was 4-3. Morse went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Getting the save was Abdel Alamini, his 1st. The Loons, now 8-8, continue their slow start.
Had José Souza not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Souza hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Youth.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Minnesota manager Leo Sargent said following the tough loss.
