Highlanders Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Quindarious Monday left his imprint on the 9-4 Asheville win against the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Monday, who is rated as the 29th best prospect by BNN, went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Javier Contreras earned the win for Asheville. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Asheville is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 3rd in 12 games.
Jason Alston hit a 2-run triple off Raimo Kangas in the bottom of the first, which put the Highlanders in front, 2-1. Alston had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Asheville skipper Barry Embling.
