Screaming Eagles Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Asheville
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles bested the Asheville Highlanders by a score of 6-2, with third baseman Edward Sterrenburg getting the main credit. On the day, Sterrenburg went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Screaming Eagles. Oliver Rodríguez was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Luis Ochoa earned the save, his 1st, for the Screaming Eagles.
Sterrenburg had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 3-1 fastball from Jacob Broome, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Screaming Eagles a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Sterrenburg.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Sterrenburg.
The win brings the Screaming Eagles to 8-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
