Shooters Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Youth
|
The Springfield Shooters defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 4-2, in USPL Double A action at Springfield Stadium, with Springfield pitcher David Torres named player of the game. Springfield reliever Dermot Eridge picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Wei-qian Chieu was saddled with the loss. The win gives Springfield a record of 4-4.
Springfield took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, right fielder Stephen Chávez hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Torres said after the game.
