Jersey City beat Bloomington on the strength of starter Chris Sommer's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Mat Tengku was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 16 save opportunities. The Tritons bumped their record to 57-45 with this latest triumph.

The Tritons got a big at-bat from designated hitter Carlos Rúbio. For the game, Rúbio was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Jersey City a 2-0 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Jersey City manager Pierre Muller said.
