The Jersey City Tritons defeated the Bakersfield Nobles, 4-3, in USPL Triple A action at Jersey City Grounds, with Jersey City pitcher Iwane Chihara named player of the game. Chihara got the win, improving to 7-6. He allowed 7 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Chihara allowed 2 earned runs. Mat Tengku converted his 13th save in 13 tries.
Ray Walker drove in one run for Jersey City. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Rick Converse. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"Feels good to get the job done," Chihara said after the game.
Jersey City, at 54-40, sits in second place in the Premier AAA.
