Buzz Come Back Late, Nip Rocks
|
Plymouth pitcher Ken Shelton gave the Buzz all they could handle, but in the end, Salt Lake City left Spirits Stadium with a 6-5 win. Shelton allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings. Luis Bejarano picked up the save, his 1st. Salt Lake City is now 38-53, while Plymouth is 51-40.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with Salt Lake City trailing 5-4, Leon Carlisle was at the plate when Salt Lake City scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Buzz to go in front, 6-5.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Buzz manager Dan Joseph. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
