Northern Virginia Beats Las Vegas, 7-4
|
Northern Virginia right-hander Eric Matson made an effective start against the Las Vegas Flamingos at The Strip, leading his team to a 7-4 win. Matson, now 16-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Northern Virginia is 56-32 and Las Vegas, with the loss, 50-38.
Tommy Socorro helped out the Northern Virginia cause in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the catcher went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
Matson called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
