Fighting Dachsunds Get One-Run Win at Calgary
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds picked up a win at Lynx Stadium, knocking off the Calgary Lynx, 4-3. Starting pitcher Juan Parales was an essential part of his team's success. Parales, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Bo Tubbs picked up the save, his 5th.
La Libertad, Honduras-born Jorge Alvarado came through in the clutch. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd and the Fighting Dachsunds trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Ellenburg on top.
"I liked his command," said Ellenburg manager José Vázquez. "Juan was throwing strikes."
The Lynx, at 36-30, have lost 4 in a row.
