Hotspur Reserves Win at Jersey City, 6-3
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves beat the Jersey City Tritons, 6-3, at Jersey City Grounds. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Dale Everest, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Jorge Cruzan got the win, improving to 5-5. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. The Hotspur Reserves now have a record of 32-30 with the win over Jersey City.
In the top of the first, Alex Niemann hit a run-scoring single for Phoenix. The 83rd hit of the season for the Phoenix third baseman put the Hotspur Reserves on top, 1-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Everest said after the game.
