Tritons Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Jersey City Tritons turned back the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 9-8, at Crane Field. Melito Báez was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 3 walks, while scoring 3 runs. The win was credited to Jason Martin in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jason Troughton took the loss. Santa Barbara has now lost 6 consecutive games.
The most important at-bat for Jersey City came in the top of the 11th inning, when third baseman Micheal Lovell stroked a 2-1 changeup to left for a run-scoring single, putting Jersey City up, 9-8.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Pierre Muller.
