The Plymouth Rocks beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 8-5, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Edgardo De Jesús, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Cisco Andr got the win, improving to 7-3. He worked 7 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. The Fighting Dachsunds, at 17-35, have lost 5 straight games.
The outcome might have been different for Plymouth, had it not been for Jeff Lawson, the 28-year old center fielder . Lawson stroked a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Plymouth up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," De Jesús told the Plymouth Citizen.
