Wilms Rips Salt Lake City for 5 Hits
|
Calvin Wilms put on a hitting clinic today as the Bloomington Longnecks dumped the Salt Lake City Buzz 15-4 at Lookouts Ballpark.
The Bloomington first baseman made Salt Lake City defenders earn their pay, lashing Salt Lake City pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Wilms said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Calvin Wilms singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Wilms is hitting .388 this year with no home runs and 18 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .433, 13 walks and scored 25 times.
