Rocks Come Back Late to Clip Hotspur Reserves
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves got a superb performance from pitcher Kenny Kawaguchi, but the Plymouth Rocks still won the game, 4-2. Kawaguchi was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The save went to Vaugh Chesser, his 7th this season. Plymouth is in first place in the Premier AAA with a record of 16-8.
Had Roku Hara not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hara hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Rocks.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Plymouth manager John Bush.
