Golden Cranes Suffer 6-4 Loss to Lynx
|
Despite a great performance by Santa Barbara center fielder Xu Cheng, the Calgary Lynx defeated the Golden Cranes by the score of 6-4 at Crane Field. Cheng went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times. Xiao-shuang Wong picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-0. He struck out 4 in 7 innings. The loss drops Santa Barbara to 10-8.
Had Johan Kroening not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Kroening hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Lynx.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Kroening told a Calgary Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
