Fighting Dachsunds Come Back Late, Nip Coral Reefers
|
With center fielder Eugene Clutch leading the charge, the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds defeated the Key West Coral Reefers, 5-4, at Milton Corner Tavern. Clutch, who leads the PAAA in hits with 25, was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. Picking up the save was Gabriel Escobar, his 3rd. The win brings the Fighting Dachsunds to 4-11, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the eighth inning. Facing Key West hurler Rex Hood, Vladya Pugiev, who is rated as the 47th best prospect by BNN, drew a walk. The Fighting Dachsunds went on to win.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Clutch.
