The Phoenix Hotspur got a superb performance from pitcher Wes Hamm. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Panama City. The Piranhas won the game, 7-4. In spite of the loss, Hamm was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Panama City reliever José Alaniz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Adam Garrison took the loss. With the win, Panama City goes to 32-48, while the Hotspur fall to 33-47.
The most important at-bat for Panama City came in the top of the 14th inning. With two out, Juan Martínez reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run, putting Panama City up, 5-4.
"I like our resilience," said Martínez.
