Victory Pushes Sixshooters Record to 50-36
|
The Westwood Sixshooters took Virginia Beach pitcher Tao Zhou's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Virginia Beach Grounds. The final score had Westwood getting past the Deuces, 4-1. Zhou went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 7. Bru Sotelo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 7-1. Tao Zhou was tagged with the loss. Westwood is now 50-36, Virginia Beach 43-43.
Westwood relied on the hitting of Simone Catalani to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 2-1. For the game, Catalani had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Catalani. "The only team that can beat us is us."
