Thrilling Victory Pushes Blue Sox Win Streak to 5
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Irving Blue Sox got the win.
The Irving Blue Sox stymied the Little Caesars Hot N Readys, 4-2, at The Pizza Oven. Enrique Gómez, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Irving. Ryan Dull got credit for the win, improving to 3-6. He allowed 2 runs on 10 hits in 8 innings. Matthew Fallows sewed up the save, his 13th.
Gómez had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 cutter from Luis Bustamante, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Blue Sox a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Gómez.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Gómez said after the game.
Irving has now won 5 games in a row.
