Deuces Topple Blue Sox with Late Rally
|
Spirited fans at Blue Sox Ballpark greeted the Irving Blue Sox for their clash with the Virginia Beach Deuces.
The Virginia Beach Deuces bested the Irving Blue Sox by a score of 4-1, with first baseman Júlio Becerra getting the main credit. On the day, Becerra went 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Deuces. Urs Ehles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 24 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Virginia Beach, had it not been for Luis Díaz, the 26-year old shortstop . Díaz contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Virginia Beach manager John Anderson.
Virginia Beach has a 3-game win streak, while Irving has lost 3 in a row.
