Thunder Hawks Stymie Casper, Take 4-1 Win
|
Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks starter Octávio Valdéz pitched a strong game against the Casper Ghosts at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, leading the Thunder Hawks to a 4-1 win. Ft. Polk South reliever Octávio Valdéz was credited with the win, to go to 6-0. Scott Colorado took the loss for Casper. Tommy Rowe, credited with the save, is now 4 for 5 in save opportunities.
Pedro Larate had a big run-scoring double for the Thunder Hawks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Ft. Polk South leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Scott Colorado and stroked the double to left. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 2-0.
"I felt good up there," said Larate. "I saw the ball well."
Ft. Polk South is now 41-28, Casper 31-38.
